Brakes es un cuarteto creado en el 2002 en Brighton, Inglaterra, liderado por el vocalista Eamon Hamilton, antigüo miembro de British Sea Power. Ellos son Eamon Hamilton en la guitarra y la voz, Tom White en la otra guitarra, Marc Beatty en el bajo y Alex White en la batería... Suenan como salidos del nuevo continente, eso porque Eamon nació en Stewart, BC, Canadá pero criado en Stroud, Gloucestershire, Reino Unido... pero eso es sólo la voz, su música es muy británica... Ahora están de gira por Europa con Belle & Sebastian y con Editors...

Uno rapidito de hace 40

A Quick One While He's Away es una especie de popurrí de 1966 escrito por Pete Townshend y grabado por The Who para su segundo disco A Quick One. En su concierto registrado en el album Live at Leeds, Townshend se refiere a esta canción de nueve minutos como una mini ópera épica y la presenta como el padre de Tommy...

Hemos programado de vez en cuando A Quick One While He's Away en Galaxy 94.3 fm, llena de referencias de humor británico, encaja perfectamente con el tono que hemos transmitido por radio durante los últimos tres años...

La parte de la canción donde se repite la palabra cello fue hecha en forma de chiste; el grupo quería una sección de cuerdas en la canción, pero no tenían dinero y les salía muy cara la idea del arreglo, entonces se pusieron a repetir la palabra cello donde se supone debería de sonar este instrumento...

Su nombre es Ben Kweller. Nació en San Francisco, California el 16 de junio de 1981. Creció en Greenville, Texas. Su padre le enseñó a tocar la batería a sus siete años. Escribió su primera canción de piano a los nueve. Tuvo su primera guitarra como regalo cuando cumplió once, una Fender Stratocaster roja hecha en México. Rápido después de aprender a tocarla formó las bandas Mirage, Fox Glove y Digitalis. Cuando eran adolecentes, John Kent y él armaron el grupo Radish. Eventualmente dejaron la preparatoria para dedicarse permanentemente al rock and roll...

El 19 de septiembre de este año, estrenó su tercer album de estudio de nombre Ben Kweller; llamó la atención de Willy Van Gool y él se llevó una copia a Bélgica hecha desde los estudios de programación de Galaxy 94.3 fm...
